Make Some Noise! (Summer of '99)

I got my first guitar from a friend of mine
He said he wanted to learn but he couldn't find the time
So I picked it up, I didn't know what to do
I could hardly keep this thing in tune
Pretty soon, I started getting bored
Then somebody taught me some power chords, and
I couldn't get enough of the same old stuff
I couldn't get enough of getting enough
I played these chords until my fingers hurt
Screamed at the top of my lungs without saying a word
Banging on an electric guitar
I don't need to be a superstar
All going supernova
It only goes to show that
No one will ever hear your voice
Unless you learn to make some noise
Make some noise
Sitting alone in my tiny room, I know
It's better to create than consume
I changed my habits and I changed my strings
And I taught myself to play a few things
By Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder
And eventually, I started gettting better
I couldn't get enough of the same old stuff
I couldn't get enough of getting enough
I played these chords until my fingers hurt
Screamed at the top of my lungs without saying a word
Banging on an electric guitar
I don't need to be a superstar
All going supernova
It only goes to show that
No one will ever hear your voice
Unless you learn to make some noise
Make some noise
Make some noise
I got an old distortion pedal
From a guy who used to play heavy metal
Then I started a band and we played some shows
At the same two bars, man, that's just how it goes, yeah
We made an album that nobody bought
It was little more than an afterthought, yeah
We couldn't get enough of the same old stuff
We couldn't get enough of getting enough
I played these songs until my fingers hurt
Screamed at the top of my lungs without saying a word
Banging on an electric guitar
I don't need to be a superstar
All going supernova
It only goes to show that
No one will ever hear your voice
Unless you learn to make some noise
Make some noise
The neighbors pounding on the ceiling again
They're saying, "Hey man, it's half past ten."
It's Saturday night and they're watching tv
So they know what to buy and they know who to be, oh
They don't understand a better way to live
Is to always take less than what you give
They can't get enough of the same old stuff
They can't get enough of getting enough
I played these chords until my fingers hurt
Screamed at the top of my lungs without saying a word
Banging on an electric guitar
I don't need to be a superstar
All going supernova
It only goes to show that
No one will ever hear your voice
Unless you learn to make some noise
Make some noise
Make some noise
