That was four years ago.
It took six self-produced albums to figure out how to use the EQ in the mixing process (particularly the snare drum).
The trick is to carve out the frequencies for each component of the music. Heighten the key frequencies and drop the adjacent ranges to intensify the contrast and sharpen the clarity.
Every album presents new opportunities to better figure out what I'm doing. Such are the joys of doing it myself.
Shortly after recording Petrichor, I upgraded the operating system in my Mac, rendering my old laptop useless, a product of planned obsolescence.
I've been working on album #7 for over two years now. A lot of the writing is done, but I'm still figuring out how to properly record it on a PC.
