Dandelion Wine (If Only...)

Got myself
But not much else
My net worth is
Below the surface
What do you do?
What do you own?
And who are you
When you're all alone?

Got big plans
Not in my hands
The winds of fate
Are a hurricane
Around and around
They throw me
Down to a town
Where no one knows me

Planted like a wallflower
Sipping dandelion wine
Daydreaming about tomorrow
When everything is fine
If only...
If only in my mind

Got today
So what else matters?
If we get carried away
And we scatter
Like seeds in the breeze
From a dandelion
Make mead from weeds
And we fly on

Got my health
But no insurance
A safe bet
Is my best assurance
If I miss the risks
I can save face
This is all there is
Frozen in place

Planted like a wallflower
Sipping dandelion wine
Daydreaming about tomorrow
When everything is fine
If only...
If only in my mind

Got my life
And it's ok
It will be brighter
Another day
Can't blame the rain
Or curse the night
It will change again
By morning light

Go to sleep
And close my eyes
In my dreams
Are bluer skies
Better weather
Is on the way
Will we ever remember
These salad days?

Planted like a wallflower
Sipping dandelion wine
Daydreaming about tomorrow
When everything is fine
If only...
If only in my mind
