Extra>ordinary

She grew up in the suburbs
Where time stands still
Where the scene doesn't ever change
And seems like it never will
She just had to get away, she claimed
She couldn't take another day
Of being half asleep and so tired
She said someday, she'll fly away
And find another place to stay
Where she feels more inspired
She knows it's out there somewhere
The life that she was meant to lead
I hope she tries to find it
Her extraordinary destiny
Graduated at the top of her class
She was going somewhere
But she still lived at that same old address
In the middle of nowhere
So she packed her car with everything
She didn't give away
She left when there was nothing left
That could have made her stay
She was leaving home
Going to make it on her own
She knows it's out there somewhere
The life that she was meant to lead
I know she'll try to find it
Her extraordinary destiny
One day she sent me a postcard
Where the return address is home
She says she's still got that same old car
And that same broken phone
She says that people never change
But I don't claim to feel the same way
About her anymore
But she'll always be in memory
When she left, she looked back at me
As she was walking out the door
I know she's out there somewhere
In the life that she was meant to lead
I hope she's finally found it
Her extraordinary destiny
