Better Days

Every time I read the news
I get the post-apocalyptic blues
It seems like everything's going to bust
When these institutions are vacant of our trust
These hallowed walls have begun to rot
And time will only tell if the foundations have not
We can build this house together
History repeats and nothing is forever
We're just waiting on better days
Something we can celebrate
But tomorrow always comes too late
So make today a better day
Any way that you can
Make today a better day
Like only you can
And we'll keep making our own better days
Isn't it just like fate to change?
No more images of madmen
Interspersed with that ad again
Just ask your doctor, it will make you great
And there's no reason for you to hesitate
While the bodycount keeps getting higher
We sell our souls for our desires
Everybody wants to feel safe
But recognize the reality from which you wish to escape
And keep on waiting on better days
Something we can celebrate
Tomorrow always comes too late
So make today a better day
Any way that you can
Make today a better day
Like only you can
And we'll keep making our own better days
Isn't it just like fate to change?
Is there nothing left to reinvent?
You say, "This is the winter of our discontent"
First we fall and spring again
Then I think we start remembering when...
To those halcyon days when life was simple
And not so post-experimental
We're all tangled in each other's lives
And we need one another to survive
We're just waiting on better days
Something we can celebrate
I know it's not too late
To make today a better day
Any way that you can
Make today a better day
Like only you can
And we'll keep making our own better days
Isn't it just like fate to change?
